Hi, I'm Kelly!
I've devoted my career to supporting children in all aspects of their growth. The vast majority of my 16 years in the field have been spent as a nanny, and I've also worked as an outdoor educator and a substitute preschool teacher. Chickadees is the culmination of my life's work, incorporating all aspects of my experience.
When I first walked into a Montessori preschool, I was blown away by the high level of work being performed. Even the youngest toddlers were actively contributing to classroom life, setting the table, cleaning up after themselves, and assisting those around them. It's the ideal environment for curious minds and helping hands. In creating Chickadees, I've drawn on what I most admire about the Montessori model and adapted it to my cozy in-home setting.

At Chickadees, we believe young children learn best by doing with their own hands and through frequent repetition. Therefore, our Montessori-inspired classroom is structured so that children may reach any materials they choose to work on, and can devote focused attention to the task for as long as they wish. As their teacher I will be available to offer guidance and support, while giving them the space to learn at their own pace. The materials will be constantly updated to provide progressively more complex tasks to meet their ever-expanding capacities. The goal is to instill within the children a great confidence in their own abilities.
