Chickadees aims to provide each member of our childcare community with a space in which they may truly thrive. In order to achieve this we incorporate the findings of early childhood research to meet young children at each stage of their development. Key tenets of our approach include:

Kindness. Each child will be treated as the unique and precious gift that they are. They will be appreciated for the great value they bring to our community. For many young children, childcare is their first regularly scheduled activity outside the home. We wish to show them that the wider world is inherently benevolent by modeling compassion and understanding.

Routine. Every day will follow a predictable rhythm. With so much new information coming at them at all times, young children rely on structure and consistency. Knowing what will come next in our day allows them to concentrate more fully on the task at hand.

Exploration. This comes naturally to young ones, who approach the world with wonder and curiosity. Our program simply provides them with the time, space, and engaging materials to safely expand their understanding.

Balance. We encourage all aspects of the children’s well-being, making space for the many ways they learn and grow. This entails offering a balance of free time/structured activities, guidance/self-reliance, movement/stillness, time to share/time to listen, discovery/instruction.
